JONATHAN GRAVES, a native North Carolinian and retired attorney, lives with his wife in Blowing Rock, North Carolina and Atlanta, Georgia. Their six grandchildren, and the charm and winds of Blowing Rock, were the inspiration for the characters and story of Isabella Propeller.
GAIL E. HALEY is a life long author, children’s book illustrator, puppeteer, and storyteller. She is the only illustrator to win both the Caldecott Medal in the US and the Kate Greenaway Medal in the UK for children’s book illustrations. She has also won awards for children’s book illustrations in Japan (The Kadai Tosho Award), and the Kerlan Award for Lifetime Acheivement.
Gail lives with her “kitty committee” on the Yadkin River in the North Carolina High Country. She has two children and two grandchildren.
